Downtown Avila Beach Road Resurfacing Project October 2-4

A slurry seal resurfacing project is currently scheduled to be performed on the majority of streets in Downtown Avila next Monday thru Wednesday (Oct. 2-4).   

The Contractor will only impact or close the particular streets where they are working on any single day during their daytime work shift.  All streets will be opened at the end of each day by about 4:00pm.

Expect possible minor delays due to the project.

Expect More People on Bob Jones Trail Due to AHA Heart Walk this Sat. Sept. 16th

The American Heart Association is hosting their annual Heart Walk this Saturday, Sept. 16th on the Bob Jones Trail.  The 5K walk starts at 10am.  Participants leave from the Avila Beach Promenade & follow a route along the Bob Jones Trail.

Expect Heavier Traffic this Saturday, Sept. 16th Due to Oktoberfest at Avila Beach Golf Course

The Avila Beach Golf Course In partnership with Beda's Biergarten and Hofbräuhaus München is hosting an Oktoberfest at the Golf Course this Saturday, Sept. 16th from 12-8pm.  The event will include music, costume contest, games, traditional Oktoberfest food & beer tasting.  Expect heavier traffic before & after the event.

Expect Heavier Traffic this Sat. Sept 9th and Sun. Sept. 10th Due to SLO Ultra Race Event being Held at Wild Cherry Canyon in Avila Beach

This Saturday Sept. 9th & Sunday Sept. 10th Race SLO is hosting the SLO Ultra/SLO MTB Race at Wild Cherry Canyon in Avila Beach.  The two day event includes trail run & mountain bike races, a BBQ and Bluegrass festival.  Expect heavier traffic throughout the day.

Saturday September 9th, 2017

  • 4:30am Wild Cherry Canyon Gates open for parking - waivers required by all athletes and spectators entering property. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • 5:00am to 6:00pm - Packet Pick Up and Late Registration for all races- Festival Area
  • 5:00am to 6:00am - 50 Mile Drop Bags Checked In. Must be bib# labeled by you.
  • 6:00am - 50 Mile Ultra XC Race Start
  • 7:30am - Marathon XC Race Start
  • 8:30am - Half Marathon XC Race Start
  • 9:30am - 5 Mile XC Race Start
  • 10:00am to 9:00pm - Festival Open & BBQ
  • 12:00pm to 5:00pm - Live Music
  • TBD Award Ceremony on stage

Sunday September 10th, 2017

  • 6:30am to 9:30am - Packet Pickup & Late Registration - Mountain Bike (MTB) Races-
    Festival Area
  • 8:30am - 28 Mile MTB Endurance Race Start
  • 9:30am - 13 Mile MTB Race Start
  • 2:00pm - Last MTB Finisher
